Cesária Évora, a famous singer from the Cape Verde islands, also known as the “Queen of Morna“, dies at age 70 on December 17, 2011.

In 1992, she met with great success with the release of her single “Sodade“ (“Longing”) ; international fame didn’t lag far behind. Cesária Évora has sold more than 4.5 million of records worldwide and, today, her deep voice is truly missed.

The French rappers of the band Leader Vocal, two brothers of Capverdean origin, have paid tribute in song to the “Barefoot Diva“.

Celle qui rencontra le succès à l’échelle planétaire en 1992 avec son titre phare tiré de l’album “Miss Perfumado“, “Sodade“, a laissé derrière elle des héritiers dans le monde entier, nostalgiques de sa voix rauque et de ses douces mornas & coladeras.

Le duo de rappeurs clermontois originaires des îles du Cap-Vert, Leader Vocal, a souhaité rendre hommage à “La Diva aux pieds nus“.
